Secret Witness Bill passes
Posted Tue, Mar 2nd 2010, 19:40(Grand Cayman - CITN) -
Government has passed a law allowing some witnesses in serious criminal cases to give evidence anonymously.
The Criminal Evidence Bill applies to murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, robbery and rape cases.
Some of the measures to protect someone's identity include withholding names, or using a pseudonym instead. The witness can also be screened and their voice electronically altered.
